Dennis Kucinich has been granted his request for the recount of all the votes cast in New Hampshire.

Kucinich will pay for the vote recount, despite not believing that it will help his own ranking in the State. There have been a lot of allegations in NH that votes for certain candidates have not been counted and other concerns about electronic voting.

“One of the biggest issues [nationally] is the integrity of our elections. People want to make sure that every vote counts and is counted. I’m for paper ballots in all Federal elections so we don’t have to deal with this, but if we don’t straighten out this issue now about what happened in New Hampshire… and if it’s nothing, fine – then we’ll know. But if there’s something there, then the American people will know that at least one person made the effort to come to a real accounting. And we better do this because [if it’s] not straightened out in the primary – if no one challenges it – what are we to expect in the general election?”

Part 1:

Part II: watch here.

Many may find it a bit peculiar that Kucinich is concerned about something that won’t necessarily help him in the election. But of course – it must be made clear – that this is about more than him, it’s about the integrity of the election.

Ron Paul decided to not follow Kucinich in this effort.

Without a firm belief that vote fraud had taken place, and without the possibility that a recount would have increased the chances for success of our campaign, a recount would have diverted campaign resources, time, and energy away from crucial battles elsewhere. – Ron Paul

In other words, Paul and his campaign are satisfied that they are on the right track and that their results so far are positive, whether or not the alleged vote fraud is real.

Nevertheless, Kucinich has taken the liberty to fund the recount, which may reveal new results for everyone. The recount will begin on January 16th. The important thing is – if there is found evidence of tampering with the election, it will be very big news and could end the use the the controversial machines in many – if not all – of the States that use them.
