The Democrats display an almost unanimous hope for Medical Marijuana users for reforming Federal laws against Cannabis. On the other hand, most of the Republicans (save two) demonstrate a big fat F for their disconcern about the matter (not the mention the sick and dying people of America who need it).
By ending the War On Drugs, Cannabis could be regulated by the States (like alcohol), end illegal drug trade (and funding of terrorism), free-up prisons of non-voilent criminals, get patients the medicine they need, allow for further study of the plant and new medicines, allow industrial Hemp to be farmed, stop ruining people’s lives and careers, collect tax on the product, help the environment, and much more!
The single, most outstanding member of the Republican party, a libertarian, Ron Paul stands firmly against the tyranny that has ensued against users of Cannabis by the Federal Government. Ron Paul has proved to be the most popular candidate on this issue. He wants to get the Feds out of our lives and to put all relevant jurisdiction into the hands of the States. Already we have seen twelve States decriminalize Cannabis, and the numbers are rising. With Paul, we can finally find freedom from Federal prosecution or the D.E.A. for the use of Cannabis.
Dennis Kucinich is a man we can trust. He has voted for legislation against D.E.A. raids on medicinal marijuana users and caregivers, he supports ending the War On Drugs, and wishes to put the laws on drugs into the hands of the States. He is not for legalizing all drugs, but takes absolutely no stance against Cannabis.
Mike Gravel sees the War on Drugs as an enormous failure and seeks to end it. It is clear that Gravel takes this issue very seriously and says exactly what he feels about it. He says that not only should Cannabis should be regulated by the States, but the regulation of all drugs, which will allow people to get help for addiction rather than to put them in prison. “I will legalize marijuana,” is exactly what we want to hear and is exactly what we have got from the Senator.
New Mexico was the 12th State to pass law to protect medicinal marijuana patients, and Bill Richardson is the man who signed the bill. He is the only presidential candidate who has actually signed such legislation.

Excepting Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo, the Republicans for candidacy are complete failures for Cannabis law reform (and in my opinion, just about everything else as well!) and put their party to shame. These “F” candidates, if they’ll even make a stance, simply do no support legal Cannabis. No matter how sick or in pain you may be, they will turn your back on you, walk away from, and ignore you. The excuse is generally that ‘there are other medications for that!’ And no matter how many testimonials they get, some just won’t give-up in what seems to be their complete dogmatic bias and/or their support of the big drug companies.
